Chidera Mbaogu is an associate in the Litigation and Banking unit of Kenna Partners. Her practice focuses on a wide range of litigation as well as alternate dispute resolution issues.
She represents public, private and governmental corporations and has extensive experience in various areas of dispute resolution and regulatory compliance. Chidera has represented international oil companies (IOCs) in dispute resolution suits concerning environmental contamination caused by oil spillage. She has also advised and represented various commercial banks in matters relating to their liability under various areas of law.
Chidera has significant experience representing government agencies responsible for regulating the financial sector. She has been involved in several legal challenges related to customer due diligence requirements and the constitutionality of section 6(a)(iv) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Customer Due Diligence) Regulations, (“CDD Regulations”) 2023. Additionally, she has represented a government agency in a legal challenge against a recent implementation guidance alleged to have violated specific provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) (Amendment) Act 2024 and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As Amended).
