Arbitration Conference Revives Hopes In Future of Arbitration in Nigeria

The just concluded 2022 Hybrid Annual Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, NICArb, has again revived the hopes of young arbitrators in the future, development, and sustainability of arbitration and ADR in Nigeria and Africa.

The well-attended event with a line-up of notable speakers, who dwelled on the theme: “The Future of Arbitration and ADR in Africa: Developments & Sustainability”, was rounded off on November 25th, 2022, at the Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos.

The young arbitrators were obviously the centre of activities at the event, as there were awards and prizes to winners of the Pre-conference Debate and the National Essay Writing Competition to encourage them.

During the Award, Principal Partner at Kenna Partners, who is also the President of NICArb and AIFA Reading Society – a not-for-profit organisation committed to fostering a reading culture, Professor Fabian Ajogwu, SAN, OFR, FCArb, with the support of the Chairman of the 2022 Conference Planning Committee, Sir Uche Val Obi, SAN, FCArb, generously upgraded the prizes of the winners to encourage the Young Arbitrators and foster greater cooperation in the developing young arbitrators’ participation in Arbitration and ADR practice.
