A not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing social equity and economic empowerment in Nigeria, The Kenna Foundation, recently teamed up with the Ikeja Lions Club to provide cost-free cataract surgeries for 50 indigent Lagosians.
Cataracts are a leading cause of blindness for many in Nigeria, and this issue is compounded by the prohibitive cost of performing corrective surgery.
The Ikeja Lions Club and the Kenna Foundation collaborated to raise money for the recipients’ surgeries after The Club identified the need for accessible eye care services. The beneficiaries were chosen based on the severity of their eye conditions and their socioeconomic standing.
